This Week’s Pen Your Past Prompt
If you captured today in a snapshot, what would it show?
Think about where you’re sitting, what’s on your mind, who’s around you, and what life feels like in this season. This doesn’t have to be a “big” day. The ordinary, everyday details are the ones future generations will treasure most.
Why This Matters
We often write about the past: childhood memories, life lessons, people we miss. But your present life is just as meaningful. Writing about today creates a time capsule for the future. Someday, your words will show what midlife really felt like, all of the challenges, the comforts, and the hopes you carried.
If You’re Not Sure Where to Begin…
Try one of these memory sparks:
✨ Don’t worry about making it “deep.”Just describe your today, as honestly as you can.
My Life, One Story at a Time
One dream I carry is to build a multigenerational home. I picture my son and his wife, my two grandkids, my mom, and me — all under one roof. Instead of paying thousands on separate mortgages and utilities, we’d pool resources and live with less stress.
It’s more than just practical, though. I’d love to be closer to my grandkids while they’re still so little. At one and three, they’re growing fast, and I don’t want to miss these years. Writing about it now helps me hold the vision, and maybe one day soon, we’ll make it happen.
