This Week’s Pen Your Past Prompt
What’s a lesson or phrase you keep coming back to?
It might be advice from a parent, a saying from a mentor, or even something you learned through trial and error. Some lessons take root so deeply that they shape the way we see ourselves, our choices, and our resilience.
Why This Story Matters
When we pause to reflect on the wisdom that’s carried us, we see how much it has shaped our story. Writing about the lessons we live by is a way to honor where they came from and to notice the strength they’ve given us along the way.
If You’re Not Sure Where to Begin Writing Your Story…
Try one of these memory sparks:
✨ You don’t have to explain everything.Just share one story of how it showed up in your life.
My Life, One Story at a Time
I think that mindset carried me through becoming a single mom at 17 and, later, through earning two master’s degrees. Education was something no one could take away from me. Looking back, I can see how that phrase shaped me into being hyper-independent; sometimes too much so. But it also taught me that I could create a life, step by step, no matter what came my way.
