Improving Myself with Heart and Humor

Hi and welcome to PIM (short for Project: Improve Me!)

Below I have about 25 little tidbits about my life and personality I have put out there for the whole world to see. I wanted to let readers know up-front I am fairly weird and have had quite a ride in this life so far. I know I’m not special – we all have baggage and varied interests, but the best way to find true friends is to find some things we have in common. So, even if we only have one thing, we’ve got a good start!

I won’t bore you with too many details about me, since I’m just getting started with this blog. I have to leave some stories and life lessons for future posts, so please bear with me. If you ever have questions or comments about anything – feel free to send me an email.

Me, My Family, and Our Location

I’m Kari, from Georgia, after being born and raised in Ohio. When I turned 30, I decided to head south. I had many places in mind, but I landed about an hour north of Atlanta. The move started with my son and I, then my mom joined. Since 2005, Georgia has been home to the three of us – but our family has now doubled in size. I’ve gained a daughter-in-law, a grandson, and most recently, a grand-daughter. Also between us all we have 7 pets [2 cats and 5 dogs].

My Quiet Life

I’ve been called a nerd most of my life because I like to read and learn. I don’t mind being geeky at all – I didn’t quite get the beauty or brawn, so I’ll take the brains. I have been on a continuous path of learning a wide variety of skills since I was young. Academically, I have two masters degrees: Accounting and Data Science. [yep, I am a super geek] I work in the accounting field and I do pretty well financially, but I’m still paying on some huge student loans. [yep, I am a big dummy]

I work from home, which is a dream come true because I hate getting ready for work, driving to work and driving back home. It’s such a waste of time. So, when I found this fully-remote job in 2021, I felt like I hit the lottery and will work for this company until I don’t have to work anymore. Many jobs in my past were customer-facing and I did pretty well when dealing with people if I had to, but I’m actually very introverted. I enjoy my own company and never get bored.

My Reasons for Starting This Now

I don’t really have any definite goals for this site yet, but I finally wanted to start the blog I’ve thought about for years. I’m going to be 50 years old in 2025 – so what am I waiting for??? The concept of Project: Improve Me! came to me because, even though I’m almost a half-century old, I still have so much I want to improve on in the coming years.

This blog will help serve as an accountability method for me – I hate failing – so if I tell you I’m going to do something, I will get it done [eventually].

This blog gives me the opportunity to help someone with my vast knowledge base and research skills – I love helping people, but I rarely see anyone since I’m always at home – so this is my way of reaching out to others and venturing outside my comfort zone. I have so many things I can help with, including personal finance, budgeting, Etsy, Excel, listening to problems and sharing advice or experiences, when requested.

This blog will [hopefully] lead to improved writing skills and allow me to share my weird sense of humor. Out in the real world [the kids call it IRL now] I used to be so funny and quick-witted. People loved my smart mouth and seeing the big smile on my face. The world is missing out on it because I’m at home every day making sure the numbers are in order at my work.

This blog may lead to getting the nerve to start a YouTube channel for chats and tutorials. Eventually, maybe YouTube will send me some ad money. It sure would be nice to earn a little extra to get the above-mentioned student loans off my back.

If you made it this far, thank you and I’m sorry. I’m a bit of a rambler, so please forgive me. If you don’t mind, then make sure you sign-up for my newsletter so you know when I’ve posted something else on the site. Look for a pink button on any page to subscribe and send me a message – let me know what we have in common and let’s grow a beautiful friendship.

Email or message me on social media if you want to discuss and similarities we have!
